From February 28 to March 1, Dr. Wu Shicun, Chairman of Huayang Center for Maritime Cooperation and Ocean Governance and Chairman of the Academic Committee of the National Institute for South China Sea Studies (NISCSS), attended the China-Russia Dialogue 2025 in Sanya, and spoke on the topic of “China-Russia Arctic Cooperation”. Dr. Wu elaborated on the current state and challenges of China-Russia Arctic cooperation and exchanged views with other participants on the trilateral relationship between China, the US, and Russia, US-EU relations, and the prospects of the Ukraine crisis.
Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui and Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov delivered keynote speeches via video. President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) Wu Hailong and Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) Ivan Timofeev delivered opening remarks onsite. Yu Yunquan, Vice President of China International Communications Group (CICG) and President of Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies delivered the closing remark. Founder and Secretary General of Beijing Club for International Dialogue Han Hua moderated the dialogue.
This event was organized by China Public Diplomacy Association, Russian International Affairs Council, Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, and Beijing Club for International Dialogue. Over 40 representatives from Chinese and Russian universities, think tanks, and government departments attended the event. The representatives engaged in in-depth discussion and reached a broad consensus on topics such as “Roles and Cooperation of China and Russia in the New World Order”, “Leading Multilateral Cooperation in Global South: China and Russia’s Practices”, “China-Russia Arctic Cooperation”, and “China-Russia Dialogue in Banking and Investment”.
