Upcoming Event: Workshop on History and Reality of the South China Sea 2025

Huayang Center for Maritime Cooperation and Ocean Governance, together with the National Institute for South China Sea Studies, will co-host the 2025 Workshop on History and Reality of the South China Sea on July 10, 2025, in Beijing.

This event will bring together more than 30 renowned experts and scholars from over 10 countries and regions, including China, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Canada, Russia, Germany, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan. Participants will engage in in-depth discussions on topics such as "The Post-WWII International Order and Sovereignty over Nanhai Zhudao (the South China Sea Islands)," "History of the South China Sea from Political and Legal Perspectives," and "Re-evaluation of the South China Sea Arbitration Award."

Over 100 participants—including diplomats stationed in China from Brunei, Cambodia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the United States, New Zealand, Mexico, and the European Union, along with domestic and international scholars and media representatives—will attend the event.
